Quite a funny, if sexist, news clipping ;-)

Well after 4 years of great service, the ol’ Mentaporta wagon finally got sold for scrap today.
The van must’ve clocked up a few thousand miles as it transported the old band from gig to gig and party to party at all hours of the day and night.
All things considered though it’s not too bad - we bought the van for £60/£70, and sold it as scrap for £60 - no loss!! Hahah!
The origin of the web-log
by Dan on Jan.26, 2009, under Personal blogs
Whilst browsing around the blogosphere trying to understand what makes people want to write their thoughts and interests down in the blog format, and why it is so popular, I came across the following nugget:
A ship’s log owes its name to a small wooden board, often weighted with lead, that was for centuries attached to a line and thrown over the stern. The weight of the log would keep it in the same place in the water, like a provisional anchor, while the ship moved away. By measuring the length of line used up in a set period of time, mariners could calculate the speed of their journey (the rope itself was marked by equidistant “knots” for easy measurement). As a ship’s voyage progressed, the course came to be marked down in a book that was called a log.
I know, I know. You probably already knew this didn’t you? Alas, I may understand complex mathematics and logic structures, but it’s always the most basic of knowledge that I feel I must’ve missed a lesson or lecture on at school or at college.
Welcome to my incandescent corner of the world wide web

Well, after some considerable thought and consideration I have decided to utilise the only domain name that closely relates to my real-world name by installing blog software onto it and seeing what happens.
Who am I?
Hi! My name is Daniel; Daniel Mitchell. I am 30 and live in Cornwall, UK. I work as senior web developer at a web & graphics consultancy/agency in Truro, a few miles from where I live. I’m also self-employed and have operated a web hosting company for a number of years and now take care of some 600 websites. I live with my fiance, Sara, and a couple of friends, James and Kerry. The house fortunately is big enough so we don’t kill one another.. (yet!). I play the bass guitar (nearly 10 years now) and have been involved with the local music and arts scene for some time. At time of writing I am currently involved with 3 on-going musical projects; DMT, Armorcade, and Marble Arc. I used to be in another local band for nearly 6 years too called Mentaporta.
I spend most of my divided time either with Sara doing lush stuff, making music with my friends and/or myself, working at the office, working at home, programming web applications and generally being a nerd.

Greetings weary traveller to my personal website.
